Tempting Fate by Brinda Berry

Tempting Fate by Brinda Berry

When two worlds collide, it can only be fate.

Collin knows trouble when he sees it. A beautiful girl crashing into his car? She should be flashing a neon DANGER sign. He knows better than to get involved with a fresh-faced babe who could break his already-tattered heart. After graduating from college, he's on track to start over in a new place. He's discovering what he wants from life, away from the shadow of his overbearing father and the betrayal of his cheating ex-fiancé.

Veronica's home life morphs from trailer park to homeless after a bloody fight between her brother and her ex. She's on the run from a situation that promises to be deadly. Without a home, money, or friends, she's at Collin's mercy.

Fate brought them together. Will a secret from her past tear them apart?

This book was a fun read. There is nothing that really stood out and made it special but it was fun. The  characters were entertaining and the story line was different so all it all, it was a good book.

Dr. Who: The Blood Cell

An asteroid in the furthest reaches of space - the most secure prison for the most dangerous of criminals. The Governor is responsible for the worst fraudsters and the cruellest murderers. So he's certainly not impressed by the arrival of the man they're calling the most dangerous criminal in the quadrant. Or, as he prefers to be known, the Doctor.

What does impress the Governor is the way the new prisoner immediately sets about trying to escape. And keeps trying. Finally, he sends for the Doctor and asks him why? But the answer surprises even the Governor. And then there's the threat - unless the Governor listens to the Doctor, a lot of people will die.

Who is the Doctor and what's he really doing here? Why does he want to help the Governor? And who is the young woman who comes every day to visit him, only to be turned away by the guards?

When the killing finally starts, the Governor begins to get his answers...
My brother is a huge Dr. Who fan so I wanted to read this book and see if it was something I could get into. When I started reading this book it caught my attention. I was  hooked and could not put it down. As  the book progressed, there was alot of violence and death. About halfway through,  I got bored with it. If you are already a Dr. fan, you may love this book but for me, I have no desire to read another one, or watch the show after reading this book.

Just in Time for Christmas by Kim Boykin

Just in Time for Christmas by Kim Boykin

Nobody does Christmas like Miranda Hamilton, and now that she finally has her chance to chair Magnolia Bay's tree lighting and the cotillion, which benefits her late mother’s breast cancer foundation, this Christmas is shaping up to be the best ever. That is until her childhood nemesis Logan Mauldin buys his way on her committee and starts making plans of his own.

Logan Mauldin loves to get under Miranda's very sexy skin, and it's only fair. She's been getting under his since long before their first kiss at 13. Logan’s the last man interested in co-chairing a Christmas committee or participating in a sexy bachelor auction, but since that night he interrupted Miranda on a date and cornered her under the mistletoe, he can't stop thinking about her. Or vying for her attention and bugging the hell out of her.

Christmas cheer isn’t the only thing that heats up between the Miranda and Logan, but, thanks to a lie that is as much her fault as it is his, he loses the woman he’s loved since forever. Logan will need a Christmas miracle for Miranda to forgive him. A grand gesture to melt her heart and win her back just in time for Christmas.

This book is short but sweet. Logan suffers some serious problems but love will conquer all. Miranda and Logan are clearly into each other but of course, neither one will admit it. This is a great read when you want to take your mind off of things.

Toying With His Affections by Laura K. Curtis

Toying With His Affections by Laura K. Curtis

Good girl gone bad... Evie Bell couldn't wait to get out of the small town that had labeled her a goodie two-shoes. She dreamed of showing her more daring side. Selling sex toys might not have been the career she envisioned when she left Fairview, TN, to become a Las Vegas showgirl, but she's proud of her hard-earned success. Now, forced to return to the town she'd hoped never to see again to care for her ailing aunt she will need every bit of that pride to get along with those who disapprove of her way of life.

Bad boy gone good... Griffin Barstow was given a choice at eighteen: jail or the military. He chose the military. Now he's come home to Fairview to run for sheriff. But small towns have long memories and the last thing he needs while trying to convince voters he's turned his life around is an attraction to a completely inappropriate woman. Evie would like to avoid Griffin entirely. Her aunt, however, is in financial as well as medical trouble, and Evie must take on the job of making her aunt's shop more profitable the only way she knows how-by adding a touch of sex appeal. And when vandals make their disapproval of her changes evident, she needs the law on her side. When sparks begin to fly, both will have to decide whether a future together is possible given the issues of the past.

This book is fantastic! I love the story line here and the characters are a hoot! Just thinking about selling toys to the people in my life makes me laugh, I could not imagine being in Evie's shoes. The sheriff definitely has his hands full and that makes this story even funnier! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Mistletoe on Main Street by Olivia Miles

Mistletoe on Main Street by Olivia Miles

Briar Creek's quaint shop windows, cozy homes nestled in snow, and neighborly residents are what Christmas dreams are made of--for everyone except Grace Madison. She left her hometown years ago to pursue a writing career. But when her father's death leaves his bookstore empty, Grace must return to face why she fled Vermont in the first place: Luke Hastings, who still heats her up like a shot of smoky whiskey on a cold winter's night.

Grace is back, and Luke is worried. How much has she changed as a bestselling author in the big city? What memories will she stir up? And was the choice he made five years ago the biggest mistake of his life?

Now, with their past, present, and future rocking around the Christmas tree, it's time for Grace and Luke to face the music . . . and the mistletoe.

This book is very sweet. A typical lovey dovey Christmas type of book. There is nothing spectacular but it is a great read. Grab some hot chocolate, a fuzzy blanket and this book and snuggle down, it will be worth it!

Want It by Jennifer Chance

Want It by Jennifer Chance

For Erin Connelly, being a good girl isn’t such a bad thing. She’s working her dream job at a Boston art gallery and staying out of trouble, which is more than she can say for her deadbeat mom. Unfortunately, her mother’s latest misadventure lands her in the clutches of a Mexican drug lord. Now the only person who can save her is the one man Erin has no business asking for help: the sexy-as-sin army ranger who just so happens to be her former high school sweetheart.

Zander James is no gentleman—and no officer, either, thanks to Erin. Four years ago, she made a call that terminated his highest aspirations . . . and their relationship. He’s never forgiven her, but when he learns that Erin’s embarking on a half-baked rescue mission, he sure as hell can’t let her go alone. Now, with a treacherous enemy lying in wait, the electrifying tension between them may just be Zander’s undoing. Because while he may be able to keep Erin alive, he can’t promise to keep his hands off her.

First of all.....Did you see the cover? Whew! Yummy! Lets be real, that is what made me pick up this book in the first place. Did I WANT IT? Heck yeah! GREAT title and picture! Together, they did the job very well.

This book was hot, sexy and smoldering. I enjoyed the way Erin and Zander worked together and got along. I felt like I was there with them. I will be reading this again soon!

This book was good and was a fun read. It was not over the top amazing, but it was fun. I did enjoy the characters and found it easy to relate to them and the drama/mystery was good. This is a great rainy day read.

Worth the Fall by Caitie Quinn

Worth the Fall by Caitie Quinn

Her idea of success never involved losing her job, man, and apartment in 24-hours. Now, with nowhere to go and no way to pay for it anyway, Kasey decides it’s time for a fresh start, which means a new apartment, a new career, and…no men.

But as a magnet for ridiculousness and absurd brushes with the law, her start goes from fresh to stale in record time. It doesn’t help that Mr. Wrong keeps showing up during her adventures gone awry and taking over. Now, as Kasey plans her way to independence she has to decide if the only path to success is going it alone...or if maybe a partner in crime can make the journey sweeter.

This book was absolutely hilarious. I have not laughed that hard while reading in a really long time. Kasey is a real hoot, always in the wrong place at the wrong time and of course getting caught.

The only problem I had was that the end was a big let down. It could have had more detail.... more excitement but it was dull and rushed. Other than that, the book was great!

Against the Sky by Kat Martin

Against the Sky by Kat Martin

For detective Nick Brodie, that means keeping the perps off the streets of Anchorage 24/7. Nick has never backed down from danger, but after the horrors he's seen, he's definitely in need of a break.

Samantha Hollis never thought she'd meet anyone like Nick, especially in a place like Las Vegas. But after one reckless, passionate night, she discovers the charismatic stranger is everything she wants in a man. But can he ever be anything more than a one-night stand?

When Nick invites her to Alaska, Samantha decides to find out, never guessing the depths she'll discover in him or the tangle of murder, kidnapping, and danger about to engulf them both.

This book was amazing. The characters were believable and the story line was very catchy. There was never a moment that I wanted to put this book down. I was very into it from the first page all the way through.

The mystery was a good one and kept me guessing. There were some very hard to read parts that brought alot of emotions but the comedy soon came back.
