Gotcha! (Tall, Hot & Texan) by Christie Craig

Gotcha! (Tall, Hot & Texan) by Christie Craig

Description from Goodreads
"Macy Tucker was five years old when her beloved grandfather dropped dead in his spaghetti. At twelve, her father left his family in the dust. At twenty-five, her husband gave his secretary a pre-Christmas bonus in bed, and Macy gave him the boot. To put things lightly, men have been undependable.

That's why dating's off the menu. Macy is focused on law school, and putting herself through—which means being the delivery girl for Papa's Pizza. But cheesier than her job is her pie-eyed brother, who just recently escaped from prison to protect his new girlfriend. And hotter than Texas toast is the investigating detective. Proud, sexy...inflexible—he's a man who would kiss her just to shut her up. But Jake Baldwin's a protector as much as a dish. And when he gets his man—or his woman—Macy knows it's for life."

This was one of those books that I did not want to put down.  When I was unable to read it, I was thinking about it. ALL I wanted to do was get back to this book so that should tell you something!

I have a confession, I am in love with Jake. He is sooooo sexy and caring and seems to be the whole package. Macy was a great character and was believable. I absolutely love how hard headed and sarcastic she is! I also thought the relationship between Macy and her brother, Billy was perfect and very fitting.

The ending or well, the take down of Tanks was not at all what I expected. I was craving more drama and suspense but it was still good. Overall this is a great book that I will read again!

Baby Its Cold Outside by Carly Carson

Baby It's Cold Outside by Carly Carson

Description from the publisher:

"Jenna only intends to apologize to the man of her dreams for the great wrong she did to him five years ago. But when she shows up uninvited at the door of his Manhattan apartment, an unexpected blizzard is blowing up outside and she's dressed for a beach day in Florida. What can he do but invite her in?
Though he's never met Jenna before, Grant is immediately drawn to this blizzard-bopping beach babe. He'll do her, but he doesn't do deception. He thinks he's spotted her minor trickery, but the big secret that blew up his life is waiting in the wings…
And things are about to heat up."

This was a very short read but it was really cute. It made me giggle and get excited as the scheme played out and I found it very entertaining. I do wish it had been a little longer because I was really enjoying it. There was no mystery, nothing big that happened but it was great! Perfect book to read while snuggling up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa!!

Pirates on the Farm by Denette Fretz

Pirates on the Farm by Denette Fretz, illustrated by Gene Barretta

What would you do if a group of Pirates moved in next door? This hilarious and creative book shows how out of place pirates are when they take over a farm. They have NO idea how to plant seeds, take care of animals or even socialize! As you read through this book you get to enjoy watching the pirates learn important skills.

I found this book to be way better than I thought. My son and I laughed and laughed at the pictures and how the pirates did everything wrong. There was not a boring page in the whole book! The lessons were subtle but strong. I appreciated the fact that the pirates went to church as well!

Review from my six year old son Max:

"This book was funny because Pooch was crawling like a dog and every picture had something funny.  The story was great because it was funny and there were Pirate words. I liked that the family started helping the pirates! I like this book and I will read it lots of times!"
