Before we look at these four amazing books, lets have a chat with Author Joanne Rock....

Joanne Rock fell in love with reading at a young age and stayed out of trouble- mostly- as a teen thanks to long stints at her local library where she routinely checked out as many books as a bicycle basket would carry. She still pronounces all the names of the Greek gods incorrectly because she learned them through reading- a small price to pay for the vast amount of knowledge she gained from books! She started writing when the voices in her head kept her awake at night, demanding she tell their stories. A successful romance author and former Golden Heart winner, she’s penned dozens of books for a variety of Harlequin series and has been nominated for the prestigious RITA award three times. Her work is reprinted around the globe and has been translated into twenty different languages. When she’s not reading or writing, she’s cheering on her three sons in sporting endeavors of every variety.

~~ You have written a lot of romance books, what attracts you to this genre? Do you also read a lot of romance books?
I love everything about romance. From Romanticism in art and the way it privileges strong emotions as an aesthetic, to the way romantic love is the foundation for marriage and family. My home is full of romantic paintings, I can quote the Romantic poets (“A thing of beauty is a joy forever!”) and I put a lot of hard work into my personal HEA. But then, I’m a sensitive, emotional sort of person. The first romance I ever read was probably Wuthering Heights, although it certainly wouldn’t qualify as a romance novel. Mixed in with the more literary romances I came across as a teen were also a few Silhouette books that I adored. I still love both kinds of romances. Today, I don’t read nearly as much as I would like to, but that’s the mixed blessing of being a writer. My days are still spent with words, but I’m writing them! Still, I read as much as I possibly can because I enjoy our genre tremendously.

~~How do you come up with the names for your characters in your books?
This is always fun. I have baby name books that I browse or I look up popular baby names from different time periods depending on the age of the character and the time period of the book. I do look at the meanings of names or else I try to mix up the sounds and styles of names. In other words, you don’t want to have multiple characters’ names beginning with the same letter or to choose names that are too similar. In books with a lot of characters, that can get to be a challenge.

~~How do you come up with the titles for your books?
I consider this word play. I look at other titles in the line or genre to see what kinds of titles are currently popular and let that inspire me while I try to be careful not to choose anything too similar. I might make lists of words or phrases related to my book and see how I can use those in the framework of the current popular titles. I cross match words from different lists (ie- lists related to the setting, lists related to heroine, lists related to the romantic theme) and see what I come up with. I enjoy it. If all else fails, I look to song and movie titles to see if there’s something that will inspire me there. The editors will help if I get stuck!

~~What are your Top ten favorite romantic foods?
Anything chocolate, but especially chocolate lava cake or chocolate fondue, red velvet cake, crème brulee, filet mignon, coq au vin, red wine, spaghetti (Lady and the Tramp!), oysters, deep dish pizza (you know pizza and a movie was your first date… it’s a romance classic food)

~~How can my readers follow you and your books?

Ok, Thank you for answering my questions Joanne, now we can look at these four great books, I will ask you a few questions as we go through them as well!!!

Joanne, can I ask you a few questions here?
~~ How did you come up with the idea for the book Learning Curves?
This book is set on the college campus where I received my Master’s degree. The heroine is working on an advanced degree there too! So I pulled some of that story from real life. It’s good to pull ideas from the creative wells that are full and I had lots of story details to offer this one from the local bar scene to the way my heroine is struggling to come up with the right project for her dissertation.

~~ Can you tell us some behind the scenes fun facts about Learning Curves?
There is a memorable car wash scene! Readers enjoy this one . I like that the hero is a blue collar guy and proud of it. There is something so appealing about a man who can take things apart and fix them. Cal is that kind of guy.

Now before we head into the next books, I would like to ask a few questions about it.

~~How did you come up with the idea for the book Revealed?
My critique partner, romance author Catherine Mann, and I plotted this story over margaritas at a hotel bar during a writer’s conference. This is one of my best, happiest memories of brainstorming and I miss living close to Cathy so we could brainstorm in person. When we lived nearby, we use to go out for long lunches, laugh a lot, and talk non-stop about books. She’s a brilliant writer and fantastic storyteller.

~~ Can you tell us some behind the scenes fun facts about Revealed?
I wanted to call this one The Birthday Suitor because the singer heroine accidentally ends up on a strip-o-gram assignment at a bachelor party. She has no idea that’s why she’s there. I liked the “birthday suit” reference!

Revealed
By Joanne Rock
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age category: Adult

A bachelor party seems an unlikely place to find romance, until the best man runs off with the reluctant stripper…
When her costume ends up falling around her ankles in an impromptu striptease, Jackie Brady realizes she just sang to the wrong party. Somehow these bachelors weren't expecting "Happy Birthday"-even if it was a rather revealing rendition. But the steamy look in gorgeous best man Greg De Costa's eyes tells her he's more than pleased she crashed the party. So what harm would there be in accepting bachelor number two's seductive invitation?
Greg is spellbound by this sexy singer-even before she loses her costume! He definitely wants to know more about the sensual Jackie. But, through a not-so-funny twist of fate they're working together and he's vowed never to mix business with pleasure. Too bad the memory of her scorching kisses has him forgetting about his good intentions…

Joanne, before we go on to the last book, I have a few more questions for you.

~~ How did you come up with the idea for the book Tall, Dark and Daring?
This was the first contemporary story I ever penned. I had just decided to see what it would be like to write a contemporary book after writing a handful of historicals. I told my critique partner I wanted to do this, but I didn’t know where to start. She advised me to work from real life—look at a real couple and imagine if their story took another path, if they had different jobs or if I tweaked a few things about them. That helped me to start brainstorming! I quickly used some key conflicts from my own marriage (HEAs don’t make the conflicts go away… we just learn how to compromise!) and then gave the characters different jobs, a different history. They are different people, absolutely! But starting with something familiar helped. I still create stories this way sometimes.

~~ Can you tell us some behind the scenes fun facts about Tall, Dark and Daring?
I used to live close to the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, New York, the real life inspiration for the setting of this novel. The property is breathtaking and Lake Placid is a magical place in the winter. I am proud of how that comes out in the story in addition to the romance.

And some questions about this last book.....

~~ How did you come up with the idea for the book One Naughty Night?
This book started with the heroine. I knew the kind of heroine I wanted to pen and I asked myself what kind of hero would give her the most trouble? Esme and Renzo arrived fully formed in my mind before their story line. Then, I came up with how they would meet—a blind date gone wrong. I loved the set-up and the characters, then worked from there.

~~Can you tell us some behind the scenes fun facts about One Naughty Night?
This book is my most reprinted book around the world! It appeared in print in the Harlequin Temptation series in 2003 and it went on to be printed in at least 15 other countries. However, it’s been gone from U.S. shelves for over a decade, so I’m thrilled it’s now available as a digital book. It was a RITA finalist for contemporary series romance.

One Naughty Night

One naughty woman…
The sweet, innocent blonde on the dance floor is way out of her league in this hot, singles club.
